David Drockton
Vocal Instructor
David has been singing and performing as both a vocalist and as a pianist since the age of 5. At the age of 14, he started his professional vocal studies under a classical teacher at a local University. David was featured as a soloist for All State Choir and had several lead roles in various community musical theater productions. At the age of 18, David began attending the professional opera program in DePauw, Indiana. David completed his first year amidst performing the role of Mercury in a production of Orphee aux Enfers. During this time, David was working under the choral expertise of Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt, a world renown choral conductor, once again as a soloist, but this time in the vocally demanding Baroque repertoire. David spent his time off from DePauw touring with a Chamber Ensemble.
At the suggestion of an old mentor, David sought out a Speech Level Singing instructor to help him learn to branch out from the Opera and Musical Theater genres. David has studied under Linda Tomkinson since that time. David has also worked with Penny Framstad of Los Angeles. She is a professional singer and songwriter who has written dozens of original songs.
This past summer brought David the opportunity to burst into the local music scene of Hollywood with a performance gig at the Room 5 lounge, a favorite to the music industry.
Currently, David is working on putting together an album of all original Indie songs, working on several band projects and, of course, being involved in various performances.
David began his teaching career two years ago and is excited to be shifting his focus to speech level singing.
