Linda Tomkinson

Vocal Instructor

Linda was first introduced to Seth Riggs and SLS in 1995. In her first lesson with Seth, he strongly encouraged her to pursue a teaching career. Taking Seth's advice, Linda met with great success in building a large clientele over a short period of time with only word of mouth as her advertising. She attracted many of the local artists and singer/songwriters.

Known as the teacher who gets results, Linda has always enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction of helping to develop the vocal talent of both professionals and non-professionals alike. She has over 12 years of teaching experience and 8 years of performance experience. She is a level 5 SLS Certified instructor, the highest level attainable, and in 2008 was chosen out of over 500 teachers worldwide to receive the prestigious "Catch the Vision" award, her third consecutive award from SLS International. In 1999 she was awarded a scholarship to the Seth Riggs Summer Vocal Program. From there she was invited to Nashville to teach at the Singing Success 2001 Program. In 2002 she met with an even higher level of achievement when the invitation came to teach at the prestigious Seth Riggs Summer Vocal Program in Los Angeles. She has been involved with the Seth Riggs Summer Vocal Program ever since and became the Executive Director of the Program in 2005.

Linda continues her own study today with Master Instructor Seth Riggs and his amazing Instructor Management Team. Linda feels honored to have been mentored by several of Seth's Master teachers, including: Greg Enriquez, Michael Goodrich, Dave Stroud, Jeffrey Skouson and Wendy Parr.

Linda's students have performed on Disney, BYU Young Ambassadors, Dance Dance Revolution, Fuse TV, Xbox 360, Konami, Cascade Recordings, Big Idea Productions, Hale Center Theater, Usana, On Stage Productions and have won numerous talent contests and scholarships.

A wonderful summation of philosophy taught in her studio is found in the following statement: "I truly believe anyone can learn to sing and sound good, if the want it badly enough. I'm committed to teaching what I believe is vocal truth, the SLS pedagogy. I believe that God meant for us to sing and I find the greatest joy in singing praises to him."

Seth Riggs "Everyone wants to sing. Unfortunately, all males and females are faced in how to negotiate from the lower part of their voice to the upper ranges without a break. The most difficult part of singing is this very problem. They don't teach it in music schools or colleges.

Linda Tomkinson is an extremely rare teacher who cannot only do it, but she can teach it. Many people try to teach but can't do it, the rest that can do it, can't teach it. Again I want to say that Linda Tomkinson know's and can do it herself. Most importantly she brings it in all of her pupils, old and young, men, women and children with equal aplome, and I cannot endorse anyone more heartily than Linda Tomkinson."
